Leading from Within

An introductory "Courage to Lead" retreat for clergy, seminarians, and other spiritual leaders serving diverse religious communities

This retreat is based on the work of Parker Palmer, and is rooted in the belief that effective service, leadership, and ministry flow from the identity and integrity of the individual, and that true ministry flows naturally when we reconnect with our inner spiritual wellspring, grounded in our longing and attention to our authentic spiritual experience and practice.

This introductory Circle of Trust is especially designed for clergy, seminarians, and other spiritual leaders from diverse religious communities. The retreat will be held at Villa Maria del Mar in Santa Cruz, CA. We begin with lunch at noon on Monday, October 6th, and end with a noon meal on Wednesday, October 8th. This retreat is designed to provide an opportunity for personal and professional renewal, time away from the routines and demands of daily life and unrelenting needs of the communities we serve, to nourish one’s spirit and spiritual grounding.

Facilitator: Susan Murphy is an educator, a spiritual director, and a Quaker who has been leading contemplative practice groups and meditation retreats since 1990. She has been prepared as a facilitator by the Center for Courage and Renewal.
