Philo, CA -- July 6th-11th, 2008 ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED TO 15 PERSONS--Enroll NOW! This residental retreat begins with instruction on contemplative prayer. the foundation for the healing work that will be presented in this workshop. The retreat is limited to 15 participants and is not intended for personal healing, butin training for those interested in the ministry of healing and wholeness. The purpose of this training is to develop the latent God-givben healing ability that everyone has. In the training, participants learn ten spiritual exercises that focus the attention in a very concentrated way and access inner imagery. The exercises are drawn from Christian, Jewish, Eastern, and Native American traditions and are designed to enable one to work with inner imagery that will serve as a metaphorical bridge between the ill person, the healer and God or Christ. This imagery prayer for healing is based on a model of distance healing developed by Lawrence LeShan, Ph.D. Suggested Reading: Healing Worlds, The Power of Prayer and the Practice of Medicine by Larry Dossey. Leaders: The Rev. Francis Geddes, D.Min.and Ann Geddes. Francis is a retired United Church of Christ minister and spiritual director from the San Francisco Theological Seminary, San Anselmo. CA. Ann has taught yoga as spiritual practice and was director of the Solar Yoga Center in Brooklyn, New York. Living and Breathing on a Common Path: A 5 Day Silent Retreat The WELLSPRING RENEWAL CENTER, Philo, CA July 21st-July 26th, 2008 In this five-day meditation retreat we provide opportunities to experience and integrate Buddhist and Christian contemplative practices through brief instruction, extended periods of silent practice, and ample time for unstructured quiet in the midsummer beauty of the Wellspring Renewal Center, Philo, Mendocino County. The complementary practices of two great spiritual traditions will weave an experience of great deepening and opening; a rich encounter with what is real, authentic, and nurturing. This retreat is ideal for those who wish to go deeper into the stillness, to receive some introductory instruction in meditation and contemplative practice across traditions, and to experience directly the benefits of meditation and prayer time away from the interruptions and distractions of everyday life.
